Here are a some tips to roughly evaluate the SEO performance of a website when beeing created. (multilanguages websites)
These lists implies than the consultant will dig into new knowledge depending on the results: get to know more the monitoring tool of the webmaster (such as google analytics), and about the local Search engines (key factors to search and summarized once for all)
Questions to ask the client
- Do you want to rank your level 1, 2 or 3 ?
- –1: main page only
- –2: main page and menu pages
- –3: all pages
- –> 1 & 2 can be manually done, but for 3, the keywords and other manual actions must be automated in order smooth the process
•- Can you buy one website for each language and separate them clearly (.com, .fr, .cn, .jp, .kr …) ?
- Must separate clearly the languages for the searchengines to like your website (domains, subdomains …) -> NEVER different languages on the same page, neither on the same domain/subdomain
•- How are you going to translate and to maintain the content when pages evolve?
•- What are your countries priorities ?
- –(if you need much time to adapt to a local country that have specifif search engines, then it must get a really high value for the client, otherwise, you don’t locally optimize)
- What is your communication plan? (press release, partners linking …) -> if none, there will be an impact of the ranking: no backlink !!!!!
– Are you going to do advertising on the website ?
Questions to asnwer yourself
•What are the key factors for every main search engin ?
- –china: baidu and google, USA: google and yahoo …
- Usually use the same factors, but give different weight to each one
- (exemple: does baidu give more weight to backlinks than google ?)
•How is generated everypage ?
•Where is settled the servers ? (can make asian clients slow down)
•What are the local languages specialities on this domain ? -> Never automatically translate keywords -> IT IS IRRELEVANT
•What is the weight of the netlinking work ? (there would be a lot if you need 1000 backlinks !)
What is the experience of the client into writing webpages ? Is the website going to evolve frequently ?
- the content is user generated: who do ? what is his experience ?
- If necessary, you must write him a tips book (how to choose the titles, keywords to be reused, linking to other websites ..
- the content is automatised : does it follow SEO rules ?
- When created, Must follow languages description, SEO recommandations, monitoring recommandation
Looking into the code
Are reporting needs taken into account in the automation of the creation of the page ?
- –This depend on the tool the webmaster use, and must seen into the code (like a google anlytic tag for exemple)
•Ranking
- –title, description, maillage interne des pages, use of h1, h2, alt of images, file naming
- –Static pages (the Link encompass the main websites for optimizing)
- –Do the page creation process take into account the need for keywords (automatically fill key words for all pages ?)

- –Language -> country -> statistics on the search engines used -> look at the key factors of the main search engines -> adapt your strategy for each country.

- How is generated the content ? how is generated a new webpage ?

- Limited number of links on the pag
- Explicit keywords on the links of the page
- How advertising are integrated / managed ? (check the “nofollow” tag on the advertising: if not,your website is linking to the advertiser website and giving him a better ranking)
